You were never mean to do this
alone.Motherhood can be, and often times is, beautiful- and it can also feel overwhelming, isolating, and heavy in ways you didn’t expect.
For many women, there’s an unspoken pressure to handle it all, to feel grateful, and to “just adjust.”
But the truth is, so many mothers are struggling quietly.
You are not the only one who feels this way.
How this started.
About the Founder
Jordin McKee
Founder/Secretary, Bloom Through Motherhood
“I walked into the ER by myself because I didn’t trust myself to stay safe. It was my breaking point, and I needed serious help.”
My son wasn’t planned. But when I found out I was pregnant — at 39, for the first time — I felt all of it at once: surprise, excitement, and a fear I couldn’t quite name. I was going to be a mother. I wanted to be. And I had no idea what was coming.
The dark thoughts started before he was even born. During my pregnancy, I began experiencing suicidal ideation — something I told myself was just hormones, just anxiety, just the weight of a big life change. I minimized it because I didn’t have language for what prenatal depression actually was. Most people don’t. We talk about postpartum. We rarely talk about what can happen before.
-
Then came his birth. I had planned to deliver at a birthing center — a midwife, a doula, something calm and intentional. Instead, I labored for 48 hours without medication before transferring to the hospital, where I finally got an epidural hoping to rest and deliver vaginally. Sixty hours after it all began, my son was born by urgent c-section because his heart rate kept dropping with every contraction. I didn’t have words for how that felt afterward. I didn’t even think of it as traumatic — I just kept moving. It wasn’t until therapy, months later, that I understood how much I had been grieving.
The months that followed were relentless. I struggled to breastfeed. I developed de Quervain’s tenosynovitis — severe wrist and thumb pain that made it agonizing to hold, lift, and care for my own baby — and eventually required surgery to get relief.
Everything felt enormous. A small decision felt like a crisis. Quiet moments felt like threats. I was drowning in a life that looked fine from the outside, and I had been drowning since before he arrived.
Nine months postpartum, I drove myself to the emergency room because I was having suicidal thoughts and I knew I needed help. That was the hardest thing I have ever done. It was also the bravest.
What brought me back wasn’t one thing. It was therapy, and medication, and faith, and eventually — other mothers. Women who had been exactly where I was and who said, without flinching: I know. I’ve been there. You’re going to be okay. That combination saved my life.
Bloom Through Motherhood exists because I looked for that kind of support and had to fight to find it. No mother should have to fight that hard — not during pregnancy, not in the delivery room, not in the long and brutal stretch that follows. Perinatal mental health disorders are the most common complication of pregnancy, and most mothers face them alone, in silence, convinced they are the only one.
You are not the only one. I know because I was one of you.
I founded Bloom here in Upstate South Carolina because this is my community, and because I believe the most powerful thing one mother can say to another is: me too. Our peer supporters aren’t experts who read about this in a textbook. They’re women who lived it — and came out the other side.
If you’re in the middle of it right now — whether you’re still pregnant, newly postpartum, or nine months in and barely holding on — I see you. This organization was built for you, by someone who needed it first.
Whywe exist.
Bloom Through Motherhood was created to offer something many mothers are missing—real support.
Not expectations.
Not pressure to “bounce back.”
Not the idea that you should be able to handle everything on your own.
But a space where you can be honest about how you’re feeling. Where you are met by someone who has been there and will sit with you in it and help you find your way through.
Whatwe believe.
Mothers deserve support through pregnancy and postpartum—not just after things fall apart.
Struggling does not mean you’re failing—it means you’re human, and you deserve support.
You don’t have to be in crisis to deserve help—feeling lost, overwhelmed, or just not okay is enough.
Honest conversations should be safe and stigma-free—no judgement. No performance. Just truth.
Healing and support happen best in community—with women who have been exactly where you are.
Whowe support.
Bloom Through Motherhood supports women during pregnancy through 2 years postpartum.
Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, overwhelm, or simply not feeling like yourself—you are welcome here.
You don’t have to keep this to yourself.
There is support.
There is space for you here.
And you are not alone.
A team of passionate women united by one mission: ensuring no mother has to navigate pregnancy or postpartum alone. Together, we bring our experience, compassion, and commitment to building a community where every mother feels supported, understood, and empowered.
